Microneedling cannot be performed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Alcohol and caffeine: Avoid these for 24 hours before the procedure, as they can thin the blood and increase bleeding.
Sun exposure: Protect your skin from the sun for at least two weeks before microblading. Sunburn can make the procedure more difficult and increase the risk of scarring.
Waxing, threading, or electrolysis: Avoid these treatments for at least one week before microblading.
Chemical peels or facials: Avoid these treatments for at least two weeks before microblading. They can irritate the skin and make it more sensitive to the procedure.
Blood thinners: Inform your microblading artist if you are taking blood thinners, as they may need to be stopped for a period of time before the procedure.
Aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, or vitamin E: Avoid these supplements and medications for 48 hours before microblading, as they can increase bleeding.
Retinol or vitamin A products: Stop using these products for at least four weeks before microblading, as they can make the skin more sensitive.
Intense exercise: Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours before microblading, as it can increase blood flow and make it more difficult to control bleeding.
Smoking: Quit smoking for at least 24 hours before microblading, as it can increase inflammation and delay healing.
Microneedling Aftercare
•A sunburn sensation is felt typically within the first 48 hours. 24 hours is most typical. Redness will generally reduce greatly the first 8 hours.
•NOTHING can be applied the first 24 hours besides the provided LIFT gel
•Apply LIFT Gel as needed the first 24 hours.
•24-72 hours. Use a gentle cleanser only. I prefer Marini Skin Solutions Age Intervention Gentle Cleanser. Available in studio or online @ www.kirklandskinandbrows.com. Rescue gel or Hyaluronic Acid may be applied as needed. Gentle moisturizer such as Phytomer Hydra Original or Nutrionelle may be applied as well. Also available in studio or online. SPF 30+ (zinc or titanium is essential) I prefer Marini Skin Solutions physical tinted SPF 45. makeup is ok after 24 hours.
•No sun or sweating for 72 hours
•72 hours you may resume all normal activities and products.
Do not use any anti inflammatories (Advil) ice packs or red light therapy for 24 hours as this will rob you of your results. We want the inflammation for 24 hours. This is what starts the collagen building process.
Use a clean pillowcase!
Aftercare Instructions for Microblading and
Powder Brows by Jessica
Days 1-14: Pat with wet cotton rounds morning and evening After patting with wet cotton, pat dry. Then apply a rice grain size amount of aftercare gel/moisturizer (gently with a clean finger or q-tip) that was provided to you.
WHAT TO AVOID FOR 14 DAYS FOLLOWING YOUR APPOINTMENT:
Makeup, skincare products, excessive sweating, saunas, steam rooms, pools and hot tubs. Sun (wear a hat when necessary) chemical peels, lasers, facials and brow waxing. DO NOT PICK- this can leave scarring, reduce the amount of pigment after healing or cause Infection. Do not touch, scratch or rub your brows. Avoid putting your face in the shower stream. Wash your face after you shower. Use your regular cleanser, avoiding eyebrows. Remove with a wet washcloth while still avoiding eyebrows. Proceed with skincare and makeup routine avoiding eyebrows. Wash hair and body as usual in shower. Avoid showers longer than 20 mins as steam is to be avoided as well.
Nothing besides wet cotton and your brow aftercare should touch your brows for 14 days.
WHAT TO AVOID AFTER THE 14 DAY HEALING PROCESS:
More than occasional sun, Retin-A, AHAs, any chemical exfoliants and pigment lightening products should be avoided on or one inch away from brows. I recommend an SPF of 30 or higher on the face and brows daily. Preferably a clear formula to prevent your brows from looking gray. I have
recommendations if needed. Excess sun will prematurely lighten your brows and turn them ashy in tone.
WHAT TO EXPECT FOLLOWING MY APPOINTMENT:
It is normal to feel minor irritation for a couple hours to a couple days, followed by dryness and or itchiness. Patting with wet cotton and using your aftercare will relieve some of the itching if it happens. Brows will appear darker and more warm in color until all flaking is finished (days 10-14) They will lighten in color 20-40% and will shrink down in size. After they lighten, they will slowly reappear more and more over the next few weeks. The 8 week touch up will fill in any light areas that have lost pigment.
